Beyonce takes inspiration from mozambique's tofo tofo for "Run the World (Girls)" Music Video Wednesday, 25.05.2011, 12:31am (GMT) Queen of pop and R&B superstar, Beyonce, finally premiered the video for her lead single for her fourth solo album dubbed "IV" tonight. The "Run the World (Girls)" video features a lot of choreography which strikingly bears poses to African dances. Afroziky identified it and we can confirm the video's dance moves are inspired by Mozambican kwaito dance group Tofo Tofo, who Beyoncé personally sought out as inspiration. Tofo Tofo was flown into the US to have a cameo in the video.
The video is directed by Francis Lawrence and was shot over a four day span in the Mojave Desert and Inglewood, California. Beyonce Knowles also worked with choreographers, Frank Gatson and Sheryl Murakami. In previous news, it was reported that many African dancers had been flown to the location for the video shot. See the video that inspired Beyonce We are not surprised Beyonce loved this. Even Namibia's Ees commented saying "YES-JAAAA!!!!! eisch dis is GOOOD ek se!; great moves bois... keep it UP! serious!; EES". Siphiwe Magubane @MGSlang pointed out to us on Twitter that the song is used in the Tofo Tofo video was Nisho Njalo by South African Kwaito legend, DJ Cleo. Check out that song here - Nisho Njalo
