Ghana: Shaggy & co mesmerize fans at JOY/MTN Old Skuulz bash
Tuesday, 14.08.2007, 10:53am (GMT)

His return back into the country for the second was much published and thanks to Mobile Telecommunications Network Ghana, MTN- Ghana, Shaggy and his friends came, saw and indeed conquered.

They touched down quietly into the country early Friday morning and were whisked straight to the plush M Plaza Hotel. Together with the Ravon, “Ganja Farmer” Marlon Asher, Wayne Mitchell and their crew they plotted their onslaught on their fans.

As planned their two-day concert was clearly defined by the event organizers. Day one was for the corporate and VIP clients of MTN at the Accra International Conference Center and day two was the open house party for the general public at the Trade Fair Center which was fused with the annual Joy Fm Old Skuulz Reunion.

With fans waiting patiently for hours for the performance of Shaggy way after 1am Saturday morning, local giants like new face of MTN, Samini, gospel powerhouse Kwaku Gyasi, Praye, Ghana Music Awards “big boss” Ayisoba, and the  Big Dreamers – Wutah held the high profile audience spellbound with great performances after the other.

Once again Samini proved that he is the man to beat when it comes to live performance in the country.

Oh yes! Shaggy did come. Many were those who thought it was one of those over-hyped programs where the main artists don’t even get into the country.

When Emcees for the night KOD and Bola Ray announced that Shaggy was next to perform the room lit up with fans trying to catch a glimpse of the world class Caribbean Bad Boy.

The fans were prepared for a night long performance but Shaggy told them to hold on tight for the main deal at the Trade Fair Center and you can say that again - he lived up to the nights’ promise. Not even the showers of blessing on the night would perturb the anxious and over excited fans who had started the day with much happiness and sheer ecstasy from meeting old friends and classmates.

For the fans who left because of the “small” rainfall they have even reason to be sad for the night was filled with stars. As though the line-up was not even the event was also beamed live on MTV- Base.

Shaggy together with all the performances for the two concerts really gave to the fans what they asked for and it was not surprising therefore when the fans started chanting for MTN to not only provide improved services in mobile telephony but to reward them as well with such packed internationally inclined entertainment packages.

Who would be the next big international icon to come to Ghana, MTN we are watching!!!
