Angola: Cult - Jay-Z Pulls Crowds to His First Ever Luanda Concert Friday, 13.10.2006, 11:35am (GMT)
American renowned rapper Jay-Z can say he had an astounding night last Monday, since in his first concert in Luanda, held in Karl Marx cinema, he managed to put the about 2000 fans into a feeding frenzy, with his top-rated performance. During the concert, which the public consider "the best hip-hop show in Angola so far", the rap star received waves of cheers all along his performance. The fans even sang the songs with the best English they had, thus showing how big hip-hop is becoming in Angola. Before Jay-Z went on stage, he was preceded by three of the current best local hip-hop/RnB acts, namely Big Nelo, the Kalibrados band, and Anselmo Ralph, who obviously did more than just warming up the crowd for what was to come. The venue wasn't big enough for the number of people that were inside and those who for different reasons were outside, yet feeling and dancing to songs such as "Bonniee Clyde", "Change clothes", "Izzo", "Excuse me miss", "Encore", and "Song cry". This one-off concert was promoted by the Step Models agency, and also served to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the mobile phone company Unitel. Certainly the public were left wanting for more.
