Salomon Kalou targets 20 goals for the season Wednesday, 27.10.2010, 07:26am (GMT) Ivoirian’s previous best at Stamford Bridge is 14 in a single campaign...
Chelsea striker Salomon Kalou has set himself the target of 20 goals this season after scoring in Chelsea's 2-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. Kalou’s sixth goal of the campaign helped strengthen the Chelsea's position at the top of the Premier League. After this effort, the Ivory Coast international is determined to beat his 14-goal best since arriving at Stamford Bridge. "I push myself to score 20 goals and that's my target," Kalou told reporters. "I've got six already so I have 14 to go. It is a challenge for myself and I have to keep myself fit if I want to do it. "I look to get 10 before the end of December and another 10 after Christmas, but I'm already ahead of the plan." He has only ever scored 20 goals in a season once, in the 2004/05 campaign for his previous club Feyenoord. Kalou was pleased with his side's ability to deal with the physicality of Wolves and believes that the key to this was their superior speed and fitness. "We have a lot of speed up front," added Kalou. "We are strong and can run longer and faster. So for the defender it is really hard to keep up for 90 minutes with this kind of attacking set-up. "If they want to get physical with us we can respond and when they want to play good football we can also adapt to that. "With our midfielders supporting us it is quite difficult for the defence to stop us." GOAL
