Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven are no longer after the signature of Standard Liege forward Milan Jovanovic. The Dutch are of the opinion that he’s too expensive for his age and have now turned their attention to Peter Odemwingie.
PSV have opted to end their pursuit of Milan Jovanovic. They had reached a personal agreement with the attacker, but Standard are desperately sticking to their €7m asking price.
The Dutch giants offered €5m plus defender Eric Addo for the player, but saw their offer rejected. As it stands, they don’t want to pay more and Standard refuse to lower their demands.
“We don’t have the financial power to take these kind of risks,” stated director Adrie van Kraaij. “He’s already 27 and he’s been injured a lot lately.”
Standard's reluctance to lower the asking price has led to PSV turning their attention to Lokomotiv Moscow striker Peter Odemwingie (pictured). The 27-year-old attacker is reportedly unhappy in Russia and is aiming for a return to West-Europe.
Odemwingie is currently impressing for Nigeria at the Olympic football tournament. He played for Belgian side La Louviere and French outfit Lille before moving to Russia in 2007.
Negotiations between PSV and the player won’t start before the end of the Olympic tournament, meaning that the Dutch side will be cutting it neat.
