Super Eagles striker Peter Odemwingie has claimed that Everton has made
an offer to sign him on loan from his current club, Russian outfit
Lokomotiv Moscow.
However, the Nigerian international does not think the Russian team
will consider Everton‘s offer for a loan, and he may be compelled to
remain in Russia until 2010.
”It is difficult to put up with the
fact that Loko doesn‘t participate in European Cups,” Odemwingie told
Sport Express in Russia.
”During my last visit to Nigeria I was
amazed. People came who should not ask such questions and said: Will
you get into the Premier League? All Nigeria watches only it.
”I am quite sure that Everton wanted me when I was on holidays in America.
”A man phoned and said: ‘Do you want us to take you on loan?‘ I have nothing against Lokomotiv, but they won‘t let me go.
”I understood that. [Manager] Rasheed Rakhimov would not listen about my departure, especially on loan.”
With
the Everton deal looking unlikely to materialise now, the player feels
that one possible destination for him is Roma, which was space in its
squad currently for a non-EU registered player.
