He was involved in a car crash on Wednesday, April 14; he ran into a stationary truck along Alakara road, Mushin in Lagos.
It was reported that several witnesses revealed contrary to the statement by Dagrin's manager that the rap artist was coming from a studio session for his upcoming album; instead he was coming from a friend's house.
It was reported that Dagrin was intoxicated with alcohol when he was hanging out with his friend over the night before.
A witness at the scene of the accident said: "He must have been drunk and over-speeding because the truck he rammed his car with has been parked at the front of the police station several hours before the tragedy occur, to buttress my point, when we ran to rescue him after the accident, a bottle of Hennessey was found in the car and the whole car was filled with the all sort of liquor induced odour."
Dagrin was said to be in accompany of his close associates, when the accident occurred.
The damaged car has since been confiscated at Alakara Police Station in Mushin.
Another witness who wants to remain anonymous claimed that no one was allowed to visit Dagrin at the hospital as the doctors say he's improving, but the doctors have to keep him in the Intensive Care Unit [ICU] until his condition stabilises.
Dagrin has been in coma since yesterday but it was believed that the doctors were going to move him from the ICU to the ward once he comes out of coma.
It took his management two days after the fatal accident to issue a statement.
The statement issued by the artiste manager says: "Between 2am to 3 am on Wednesday, April 14, your favourite indigenous rapper, Olaitan Oladapo Olanipekun a.k.a Dagrin had a car accident along the Mushin area of Lagos State.
